Saturday, 9th December 2000 - The Parish Centre, Chester le Street

Chester le Street Civic Choir presented ‘A Christmas Concert’ at The Parish Centre in Chester le Street on Saturday, 9th December 2000.

The choir was conducted by Katherine Ottosson with George Gent as accompanist.

The concert opened with a congregational carol, 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'. This was followed by the Choir singing 'We're the Choir' and 'Try to Remember'. A quartet then performed 'Psalm 23', which was the theme music from 'The Vicar of Dibley'. This was followed by the Choir singing 'Save the Child'. The ladies of the Choir then performed 'Prayer' from 'Hansel and Gretel' and 'Mary's Child', with the congregational carol, 'Once in Royal David's City' in the middle. There was then a solo, 'Madonna and Child' by Freda Dougherty. The Choir sang the 'Sussex Carol' before Frank Woodward performed the solo, 'A Winter's Tale'. The Choir then sang 'I Saw Three Ships'  before the solo, 'The Night before Christmas' by Margaret Howliston. The first half closed with the congregational carols, 'The Christmas Bells' and 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.

The second half opened with the congregational carol, 'See Amid the Winter's Snow'. This was followed by a performance of the Christmas Cantata, 'Night of Miracles' by the Choir.

The concert closed with the congregational carol, 'O Come, All Ye Faithful'.

Saturday, 21st October 2000 - St. Cuthbert's RC Church, Chester le Street

Chester le Street Civic Choir performed a 'Charity Concert' at St. Cuthbert's RC Church in Chester le Street on Saturday, 21st October 2000. The concert was in aid of 'CAFOD' and 'Christian Aid'.

The conductor was Katherine Ottosson and George Gent was the accompanist.

The Choir opened the concert with a selection including 'March', music from 'Oliver' and 'The Rhythm of Life'. This was followed by a series of solos, 'The Rose', 'Scarborough Fair' and 'The Fidgety Bairn'. The Choir then performed 'How Lovely are Thy Dwellings' and 'April is in my Mistresses' Face' before another group of solos, 'My Lovely World and You', 'This is my Beloved' and 'As Time Goes By'. The Choir then sang 'One Voice' and 'Anthem' from 'Chess'. After the solo, 'In the Gloaming', the Choir closed the first half with a 'Selection from the Musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber'.

The second half opened with 'I will sing with the Spirit' by the Choir. This was followed by a septet of 'I am a Small Part of the World' and then the solos, 'The Gasman Cometh' and 'Cry me a River'. The Choir then performed a 'Selection from Les Miserables'. This was followed by the solo, 'Can't help lovin' that Man' and the duet, 'Riding in the Park'.

The Choir closed the concert with 'Goodnight Sweetheart' and 'Holy, Holy, Holy'.
Saturday, 10th June 2000 - Chester le Street Parish Church

Chester le Street Civic Choir performed 'A Choral Concert' at Chester le Street Parish Church on Saturday, 10th June 2000. The Choir was joined by Norwegian Choir, Sorlandske Korverksted.

The Choir was conducted by Katherine Ottosson with George Gent as accompanist. The guests were conducted by Andrew Wilder with Gillian Wilder as accompanist.

The guest choir opened the concert with the selection of 'I Will Greatly Rejoice', 'Det koster ei' and 'Geistliches Lied'. Both choirs then performed 'Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen'. The Choir then performed a selection which included 'Non Nobis Domine' and two madrigals, 'Since first I saw your face' and 'Now is the Month of Maying'. After two instrumental solos by Hannah and Cecilia Wilder, the guest choir concluded the first half with the selection of 'Deep River', 'Two Norwegian Folk-tunes' and 'Hail, Gladdening Light'.

The Choir opened the second half with the selection, 'Rhythm of Life', 'Onward Christian Soldiers' and 'Anthem' from 'Chess'. This was followed by a selection from the guest choir of 'Verleih uns Frieden', 'Richte mich, Gott' and 'Os justi'. After another instrumental duet by the guests, their choir concluded with the selection of 'Ave Maria' and 'Fader var'.

Both choirs combined for the finale of 'Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem'.
