Saturday, 8th July 2023 - Chester le Street Methodist Church
Chester le Street Civic Choir performed the 'I'm Gonna Sing' Concert at Chester le Street Methodist Church on Saturday, 8th July 2023.
The concert was conducted by Philip Dixon and Julie Lawrence was the accompanist.
The Choir opened the concert with a set including 'I'm Gonna Sing', 'Gloria in Excelsis Deo' and 'Creations Hymn'. This was followed with the solo, Tell Me on a Sunday' by Helen Miller. This was then followed with a set by the Choir which included 'Ecce Homo', 'With a Voice of Singing' and 'I am a Small Part of the World'. Tracy Hopper and Joy Lynn performed the duet, 'Beauty and the Beast'. The Choir closed the first half with a selection of 'Sing a Song of Sixpence', 'Old Mother Hubbard' and 'One Voice'.
The second half opened with the selection of 'Singin' in the Rain', 'Evergreen' and 'Love Changes Everything'. Tracy Hopper and Paul Stevens then performed the duet, 'Come What May' from 'Moulin Rouge'. The Choir performed a selection from the musicals which included 'Memory' from 'Cats', 'The Music of the Night' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone/Climb Ev'ry Mountain'. After the solo, 'Some Enchanted Evening' by Michael Green, the Choir presented a selection from 'Oliver'.
The finale to the concert was 'Zadok the Priest', which was very appropriate as it was the Year of the Coronation.
Saturday, 25th March 2023 - The Parish Centre, Chester
le Street
Chester le Street Civic Choir presented ‘A Spring Concert’ at the Parish Centre in Chester le Street on Saturday, 25th March 2023.
The choir was conducted by Philip Dixon with Julie Lawrence as accompanist.
The concert opened with a selection of pieces including 'Hallelujah, Amen', 'All in the April Evening', 'God So Loved the World' and 'The Prayer: Laudamus Te'. They were followed by a solo from Michael Green. The next selection included 'The Long Day Closes', 'Goin' Home' and 'Beati quorum via'. After a solo from Helen Miller, the first half closed with a selection including 'Old Mother Hubbard' and the first part of 'Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Coat'.
The second half opened with a selection including a Medley from 'Oliver', 'Adiemus' and Evergreen'. After a duet from Paul Stevens and Tracy Hopper, the Choir presented a selection including 'The Goslings' and the second part of 'Joseph'.
The finale to the concert was 'The Heaven's are Telling' from 'The Creation'.
